And what a month it’s been.
Since starting at Rudolf Steiner, I’ve had the joy of seeing how the elements of writing come together from the early end. These aren’t the youngest years, when stories come to school in the form of children’s narratives that teachers write down. Now the students are doing the writing, and they are using visual, aural, and memory skills in order to express themselves through writing.
And what about my own writing?
I’m finishing up The Yorkville Stories, a collection of short works that feature several characters from last year’s novel, One Way to Whitefish. Someone once said that a writer finishes the work but isn’t ready to say goodbye to the characters. I could not agree more. And I wanted to see what happens to Don and Allison after they reunite. Only somewhat of a spoiler alert.
I am also reflecting on all the lovely gifts 2025 gave me. There were many highs, and, as always, some lows, but the lessons learned were powerful. I like this post from the New York Times Well Newsletter. It is about more than simply making resolutions. I used them as writing prompts last week and learned a lot about myself.
Happy New Year to all.
