New News

These days I’m also much more busy.

My news? I’ve been hired as a Second Grade Assistant Teacher at my alma mater, the Rudolf Steiner School in New York.

The stars simply aligned for this one: as a substitute teacher this fall I was introduced to the marvelous classroom teacher for this grade. We immediately connected, I loved the children, and somehow the assistant position became available. It never happens like this.

Or does it?

I’ve dreamed of teaching at Rudolf Steiner for years but didn’t think I could because I didn’t study their pedagogy. I will now, as a new faculty member, and I could not be more excited for these mentorship and professional development opportunities.

Supporting Steiner classroom teachers this fall has been wonderful and somewhat dream like. After all, these are the very rooms I learned in from ages four through twelve.

My other news is that The Week in Writing will now become a monthly post, as my new job and the holiday season is upon us. Rest assured, I am eager to report back on the distinctive writing method taught at Rudolf Steiner. After all, I was one of the lucky ones. Unlike so many I have spoken to, I loved writing and dreamed of one day becoming a writer.

And here we are.
